Semillon
Wine
Mount Horrocks Semillon draws from a patch of the estate Alexander Vineyard where the soils are weaker and rockier. Forced to struggle, the vines yield small, flavourful bunches of fruit.
The fruit is carefully harvested in the cool of the morning and destemmed, crushed and gently pressed. The free run juice is isolated and settled prior to fermentation in new and seasoned French oak barrels.
Each barrel is stirred weekly for three months, then left on gross lees for a total of nine months. The barrels are tasted to determine which comprise the final blend.
Pale gold, Mount Horrocks Semillon has lingering citrus flavours with a touch of spicy oak, creamy lees complexity and balanced acidity. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
